FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: Saw your posting on SR-138. Here is the external link for State Highway road conditions. I just checked it for SR-49 from my place in Fiddletown to Mariposa, looks like the major maintenance ‘should’ be done at the end of today and riders heading down the front range of the Sierra to get to Laguna Seca ‘should’ have free sailing. If anyone happens to want to include it in their trip to the races, SR-140 into/out of Yosemite is closed just west of El Portal due to a major landslide closing the roadway. It will be a while before even a one-way detour can be opened. The northern and southern routes in and out of the park are open. ~http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/hi.htm~ Jim Douglas, PE, PMP Executive Engineering Assistant to the Chief Engineer CalTrans Sacramento, California Note From The Editor: Besides being a CalTrans engineer, Jim Douglas is also a veteran cornerworker.
