Rizla Suzuki MotoGP star Chris Vermeulen will be riding at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, onboard the Suzuki that powered Barry Sheene to his first GP victory. Coming straight from his front row qualification at last weekend’s British Grand Prix, Vermeulen will be riding Sheene’s 1975 Suzuki XR-14 over the famous Goodwood hill-climb course. The rookie Australian counts Sheene as his biggest hero and one of the reasons that he took up road racing, and is delighted to have been given the opportunity to ride the bike. Vermeulen will feature at the event alongside many great riders and drivers from the world of two and four wheel motorsport. He will be joined by fellow Rizla Suzuki racer John Reynolds, who will be riding his 2004 British Championship winning Rizla Suzuki GSX-R at the event. For more details on the Goodwood Festival of Speed which runs from Friday 7th Sunday 9th July, check out www.goodwood.co.uk Chris Vermeulen: “It will be an honour to ride the bike at Goodwood and so different to riding my Rizla Suzuki GSV-R MotoGP bike. But it will be amazing to get the chance to ride the machine that Barry won his first race on back in 1975. I am really looking forward to the weekend.”
