L.O.C. ENDURANCE FINISHES THIRD IN MIDDLEWEIGHT SUPERSTOCK WERA ENDURANCE RACE AT ROAD ATLANTA Atlanta, Georgia L.O.C. Endurance finished on the podium for the third consecutive race this past weekend at the annual WERA Cycle Jam at Road Atlanta They also secured their first overall top 10 finish. With Riders Jimmy Vanderhaar, Dan Carr, and Joe Hayes, the team finished third in a stacked Middleweight Superstock class that accounted for five of the top ten teams. For the second time in as many races, the L.O.C. finished a 6-hour endurance on a single set of DOT-spec Bridgestone tires. After winning at Miller Motorsports Park on the “one-set-of-tires” strategy, the team tried for a repeat at the Cycle Jam, but the Georgia heat and hard acceleration of the Road Atlanta circuit took it’s toll on the Bridgestones. The team agonized over a tire change for the last two hours as it swapped the final podium position back and forth with Team Twisted Wizard. In the end, with Vanderhaar getting ready to go out for the final stint, the lead was too small for a new set of tires and the laps times were staying consistent””the tires would have to do. Vanderhaar then turned in possibly his most impressive ride of the season keeping pace on tires that were spinning up in every corner and even braking loose in the high speed back kink. After finishing the race, the team was dismayed to see that in the final 45 minutes of the race, the entire outer layer of the tire had been worn away to expose the cords. They wouldn’t have lasted much longer, but they did the job and brought the team home safely in third place. More, from a press release issued by Team Klaffi Honda: THREE PODIUMS FOR MARTIN FINNEGAN AT SKERRISS 100 Martin Finnegan had a strong day of racing at the Skerries 100 road race meeting last weekend, scoring three podium finishes from his three races. The annual Skerries 100 road races is the most well known event in the Irish road race calendar. Skerries in the North County Dublin rarely fails to please the fans who can get closer to the action than almost anywhere else Martin who lives just a couple of miles away from the 2.92-mile circuit went into the event as the pre-race favourite but he was denied a home win by Australian Cameron Donald. Nevertheless, the 25-year old took runner up spot in both the Open and Grand Final Superbike races aboard his Team Klaffi/Alpha Boilers Honda as well as a third in the 600cc race and was more than happy with his day’s work. Martin will be heading to the Isle of Man next where he will be competing in the prestigious Southern 100 road races. Held on the 4.25-mile Billown circuit, the action gets underway on Monday evening (July 10), with the racing taking place over the next three days and Martin is sure to be a front runner and challenge for the wins.
