By Jason Braun Two CCS racers were seriously injured while racing at Heartland Park June 15-18. Lithium Motorsports rider Jason Thorson high-sided his CBR 600RR exiting turn 7 and the bike landed on his head. After preliminary x-rays Thorson was airlifted to KU Medical Center with a skull fracture and bone fragments embedded in his brain. Thorson had successful surgery on June 20th to remove the bone fragments and is recovering. Amateur racer Brad Neff hit a concrete wall in practice on Thursday after crashing his Ducati 944ss and sustained massive injuries to his entire body. Neff broke most of his ribs, pelvis, scapula, left arm, and right leg. He suffered two collapsed lungs and a head injury. Neff is still in ICU at KU Medical Center and his prognosis for long term recovery is not known. An online auction has been started at www.ccsforum.com to help both riders with their medical expenses. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Wegman Fund, (www.wegmanfund.org) which will distribute the money to the riders.
