Reigning ASRA Thunderbike Champion David Estok will ride in place of Mike Hale on the Fastbuells.com Buell XB-RR in the AMA Formula Xtreme race at Road America. Hale suffered a high-speed crash last week while doing shake-down testing on his new XB-RR Firebolt at Summit Point Raceway, in West Virginia. Hale’s injuries included a broken foot and heavy bruising to his ribs and back. Hale tried to ride during promoter practice Thursday, but he and his team decided that it would be in their best interests for him to rest his injuries and prepare for the AMA round at Miller Motorsports Park in two weeks and let Estok ride the team’s XB-RR this weekend at Road America. Estok, who just happened to be in Wisconsin, has tested XB-RRs twice, once at Summit Point Raceway last weekend and once at Road America in April. He has never ridden either of Fastbuells.com’s XB-RRs. Estok was 21st in Friday morning Formula Xtreme practice.
