HEARTLAND PARK WELCOMES CHAMBER MEMBERS TO OFFICIALLY RE-OPEN FACILITY TOPEKA, Kan. – A large group of Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, members of the Topeka business community, and local and state government officials gathered Monday afternoon at Heartland Park Topeka to officially celebrated the track’s grand re-opening in style. The event included a formal ribbon cutting ceremony, guided tours of new buildings and amenities, and some fast laps around the recently repaved road course. Although there is still work left to be finished, the track is nearing completion of the largest and most expansive renovation in facility history. At an estimated cost exceeding $13 million, the project was made possible through funds provided by the City of Topeka, the State of Kansas, the Federal Government, and private sources. “The amount of work we’ve finished since last August is staggering,” said Heartland Park Topeka owner Raymond Irwin. “On behalf of my wife Nancy and our entire staff, I cannot tell you how much it means to us for the community to support this facility the way it has. None of this would have been possible without the generous help we’ve received from so many people, from government officials to our racers and fans. It is truly a team effort.” With the race season already underway, Heartland Park Topeka is busy preparing for two large drag races in May, including the 18th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Summer Nationals, May 25-28. Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan. annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and many other pro and amateur drag racing, road racing, and dirt racing events throughout the race season.
