(Birmingham, Ala.)- The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, home to one of the world’s largest motorcycle collections, has purchased 2 motorcycles from Michael Jordan Motorsports. The #123 Carolina Blue Yamaha R6 (600) is one of three bikes used by the Jordan team in 2004 throughout the AMA racing season in the AMA Supersport 600 events and ridden by Montez Stewart. The second motorcycle that will be purchased is the #43 20th Anniversary Suzuki GSX-R 1000 which was Jason Pridmore’s back-up 1000cc Superstock race bike. The graphics were created by Nike designer Mark Smith. The same design can be seen on the Jordan XX shoe which celebrates the 20th creation of trend setting Brand Jordan shoe line. Motorcycle details can be found in the motorcycle tire tread pattern on the bottom of the Jordan XX shoe, as well a shift pad on the toe. Pridmore lead the 2005 Superstock season opener at Daytona Speedway with Aaron Yates, before finishing third in the race. Both Stewart and Pridmore’s complete riding gear including leathers and helmets will also be on display. “We are pleased to add these bikes to the museum,” said Jeff Ray, Executive Director of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. “Both are historical bikes for the museum not only because they have Barber Motorsports Park racing history but they represent Michael Jordan’s commitment to a sport that has benefited from his team’s presence,” added Ray. “We hope that we can continue to acquire other bikes as teams retire them. Today’s competitive machines are tomorrow’s history.”
