In a press conference following the first AMA Superbike qualifying sessions Friday at Barber Motorsports Park, Yoshimura Suzuki’s Mat Mladin stated that Honda has requested that Dunlop resume supplying “soft” tires for Superbike qualifying, breaking an unofficial agreement between Dunlop and the factory teams that eliminated special Dunlop qualifying tires from the class. But on Saturday morning, American Honda Team Manager Ron Heben said, “That’s news to us. I don’t know where he heard that. It makes no sense because Dunlop supplies 95% of the field with tires. Anything anyone would get, we would get and so would they (Yoshimura Suzuki).”
