USGPRU’s 125 GP and 250 GP National Champion, Garrett Carter, has signed with a major MotoGP team to race the last two Spanish championship rounds (Campionato de Espania de Velocidad). Team Angaia Racing and Garrett Carter Racing came to an agreement for him to join the team for Valencia on November 20th and Jerez on November 27th. Team owner and manager, Paolo Tajana, expressed genuine excitement about Garrett joining the team stating he had heard many good things about Garrett’s speed and skills and that he was looking forward to him joining Team Angaia Racing in Spain. He also stated that he was very interested in finally working with an American. Dorna ownes both the CEV and the MotoGP and, for this reason, several MotoGP teams segway into the last 2 Spanish races immediately following the final MotoGP race. The competition becomes extremely high-powered as these MotoGP teams use the additional races for testing, development and rider selection along side the regular season CEV teams. By some accounts, the Spanish series has become the toughest in over 10 years as Dorna has extended the 125 class well into the next decade until 2015 and as the interest in these bikes continues to expand. The Italian based Team Angaia Racing runs Honda HRC machines. These fully kitted bikes have raced the entire MotoGP season with Italian pilot Federico Sandi and Japanese pilot Toshihisa Kusahara. They are finishing the MotoGP season at Valencia on November 6th with the team after which their seats had become available for the Spanish series. The team provides 3 mechanics per bike along with a data acquision expert and a suspension expert for the riders. The team also runs a junior team for the European 125 series. Garrett will join the team at Valencia on Thursday the 17th of November and begin a full day of practice on Friday before 2 qualifying sessions on Saturday. The race follows on Sunday. The team then moves to Jerez for the season final the following week end.
