North Bay Motorcyclists Search Roadsides for Missing Rider (Santa Rosa, California) More than 20 motorcyclists and others have formed an impromptu search and rescue team in an attempt to locate a fellow rider missing since she missed classes Monday morning. Melinda Moore failed to arrive at her 9:00 A.M. class at Santa Rosa Junior College Monday according to her fiancé Mark Hinderman. Melinda is an experienced motorcyclist and loves to ride the back roads and “goat trails” of Sonoma and Marin counties. Frustrated by an inability to get assistance to search for her, a group of riders who often meet only online at www.NorthBaySportRiders.com decided to take action and have begun a coordinated effort to find their friend. Because she did not take her cell phone with her, and has not accessed her bank card since she went missing, they theorize that she may have decided to go riding instead of to classes and may have crashed in a remote area, possibly off the side of the road where she would not be visible to traffic. Riders from all over the bay area, and one from Eugene, Oregon, are participating at this time and more are expected this afternoon and tomorrow. They plan to continue their efforts right through the weekend if necessary. The California Highway Patrol is planning to join the search via helicopter when fog along the Pacific Coast Highway lifts. Melinda was last seen leaving her home near West Third and Fulton roads in Santa Rosa approximately 8:30 A.M. on Monday, September 19th. She was riding her red 2002 Aprilia Tuono motorcycle, California license plate #16Y6908. She was wearing a black, two-piece Dainese riding suit with red panels and a black and red AGV helmet. Anyone with any information about Melinda should contact Santa Rosa Police Officer Ray Navarro at 707-543-4034. Another search party will be formed Saturday, as follows: Date: Saturday, Sep. 24, 2005 Time: 8:30am briefing and assignment, 9:00am departure Meeting Place: Deaf Dog Coffee (in Raley’s shopping center) 2547 Guerneville Rd. at Fulton Santa Rosa, CA 95401
