Rizla Suzuki strengthens squad RIZLA SUZUKI welcomes 2004 British Superbike Championship winning Chief Technician Dave Marton back into the fold after a six-month break from racing. Dave – affectionately known as `Oz’ because of his Australian background – was the mastermind behind John Reynolds’ victorious Championship winning season in 2004, taking care of all technical development with the Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000. Oz took a break from racing at the start of 2005 that he describes as a `year out’ and left Crescent on the best of terms. The 37-year-old has now rejoined Crescent and Rizla Suzuki to further assist with the development and performance of the GSX-R1000K5 and is ready for the challenge. “It’s great to be back with Rizla Suzuki,” explained Oz. “I had some time off at the start of the year and now feel refreshed and revitalized – ready to race again.” Oz has a huge depth of experience to call upon and has worked for Crescent for the last six years, guiding JR, John Crawford, Marty Cragill and James Haydon to considerable success. He will give technical support and direction during the second half of the season and will also make a major contribution towards the development of the GSX-R1000K5 Superbike engine. Oz said: “I am pretty relaxed straight away and I’m looking forward to getting back to the race track. The team is almost the same as before with a few new personnel onboard and that makes for a solid package. My aim is to take what’s available, make the most of it and win some races.” Team Manager Robert Wicks said: “Oz is without doubt one of the best motorcycle technicians in the world. His insight on how to get the most out of a team of highly specialized race technicians and make a motorcycle perform at its absolute best is something that cannot be taught. We are delighted to have him back in the team. He will further strengthen our squad for the second half of the season.” Oz will join Rizla Suzuki at Knockhill for the seventh round of the British Superbike Championship this Sunday, June 26th.
