Groundbreaking ceremonies for Miller Motorsports Park will take place May 2. That’s the word from a delegation from Larry H. Miller Management Company, the Utah company developing Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, visiting Barber Motorsports Park during the AMA National weekend. The delegation includes track designer Alan Wilson, along with Larry H. Miller Management Company staffers Carolyn Ashburn, Special Projects Manager, and Kristie Marshall, her Administrative Assistant. The track intends to host an AMA Superbike National and is also interested in a World Endurance round and a WERA National round. Plans include developing club racing in the Salt Lake City area, and affiliation with an established group is being considered. Preliminary talks have already been held with WERA officials, according to Wilson. The track plans include garages opening directly onto pit lane and access roads that will allow service and emergency vehicles to access corners without traveling on the racing surface. The track project has community support and will not face the type of local opposition that led to the closure of Arizona Motorsports Park last year, Wilson said.
