From a press release issued by LRRS:

L.R.R.S Members raise $40,000 for Bryan Paquette’s Family

At the LRRS race at Loudon Labor Day weekend the riders, workers, and families held an event on Saturday night to raise funds to help fellow rider, Bryan Paquette’s family.

The event included an auction, barbecue, raffle, and a ladies race. The auction, organized by the girls and called by Jerry Wood, brought in about $36,000. It was a stone soup deal where everyone donated the items to be sold. Notable were autographed items from AMA Pro riders and teams, as well motorcycles, including an Aprilia RS250 ($4800) and a new Honda XR50 ($1400).

A collection of historic motorcycle prints donated by John Owens showed the value of racing history. The prints, nicely mounted and signed, were very popular. Freddie Spencer riding at an AAMRR endurance race at Loudon in 1980 sold for $1600. Eddie Lawson on the grid at Laguna Seca in 1982 sold for $2400. Kenney Roberts at the British GP in 1979 brought $700 and the works Honda FWS at Daytona in 1982 brought $600.

Generosity was abundant as a date with the winner of the ladies’ race was sold for $3300.

Bryan’s family attended the event and was overwhelmed with the LRRS family generosity.

Bryan lost his life when he was hit by his motorcycle in a crash caused by total brake failure.
