The May 16-19 AMA National at Road Atlanta will see 36 sections of Air Fence and Alpina Air Module soft barriers deployed in front of the track’s walls.

The Air Fence and Air Module sections will be supplemented by 1700 haybales, according to Cameron Gray of Race Promotion Management, the promoters of the event.

Last year the Road Atlanta AMA National saw the first deployment of 15 Air Modules purchased as a result of Roadracing World Air Fence Fund (now known as the Roadracingworld.com Action Fund) fund-raising efforts. Two weeks later, another 20 sections of Air Fence were deployed at Road America.

A rumor circulating that no Air Fence/Air Module sections would be used at Road Atlanta this year and that the track would be set up with haybales only is false, according to Gray.

The AMA plan to deploy 36 sections of Air Fence/Air Module has been confirmed by former World Champion Kevin Schwantz, who is a member of the AMA Pro Racing Board of Directors.

Air Fence is a trademark of Airfence Safety Systems of Australia.
