FEATURED IN THE FEBRUARY 2019 ISSUE OF ROADRACING WORLD…

Although officially we at Army Of Darkness decided to hang up our quick-fill can and air wrenches in 2005, events conspired against letting the trailer brakes oxidize in peace and we built two BMW S1000RR racebikes in 2013. We won the Heavyweight Championship in 2014, adding it to our seven previous championships, but the last race of the season only had four bikes, and our competition for the championship crashed during the race, so the trophy was a tad Pyrrhic.

With all our ‘let’s go break things at the racetrack’ infrastructure in place but no WERA races scheduled in 2015, we drove to Texas a number of times to race with CMRA. The CMRA organization and competitors were really engaging but the 24-hour van drives were one of the reasons we had tried to hang up racing nine years prior.      In 2016 the N2 Track Days organization struck a small spark by teaming up with WERA to host a single four-hour endurance race at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. With three Superbike classes (allowing for dry-break fuel tanks and quick-change modifications) for Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight, combined with a separate two-hour race for Ultralightweight, the attendance was very impressive.
