Sportbike Track Time now allowing Groms and Minis at Track Days

Sportbike Track Time (STT), the largest track day organization in the Midwest and Southeast, announced that they are introducing Small Bike Days to their already expansive schedule of track days. The Small Bike Days will be held at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway preceding the regular Saturday and Sunday track days that Sportbike Track Time already provides. Track days can be reserved now for these events at www.sportbiketracktime.com.

“These Small Bike Days will be a variation of a normal Sportbike Track Time day that welcomes small bike riders to join in on the fun,” said Richard Harris owner of Sportbike Track Time. “We see that there are more and more smaller bikes showing up to the events, and we worked hard over the off-season to get a schedule together that allows them to get track time in a safe and structured way.”

The Small Bike Days also allow the younger up-and-coming riders to gain some much needed experience on the track with similar bikes. STT allows riders as young as 11 years old to ride on track. Riders ages 11-15 years old can ride any size bike through the 600 class (this would include SV650), but they must hold a valid competition license. Riders 16 years and older are unrestricted regarding bikes but must have a valid driver’s license and do not require a valid competition license. Any rider under 18 must have properly executed a K&K minor waiver form. A legal guardian must also accompany them to the event and remain on-site for the duration. The parent or guardian, and the rider, must sign STT’s waivers and show proof of the rider’s age with a photo ID and their racing license.

These special Honda Grom and Small Bike Days will replace the normal Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced groups that STT currently runs with the following:

Group 1: Little Bikes — 65cc to 180cc (Honda Groms/Mini Bikes etc. — no scooters allowed)

Group 2: Small Bikes — 181cc to 598cc

Group 3: Big Bikes — 599cc and greater

All three groups will use STT’s Intermediate rules and regulations. Experienced Novice riders are welcome to sign up as long as they are comfortable running in an Intermediate setting.

There will be no Novice group, classroom sessions, or instruction.

“We know Groms and mini bikes aren’t the primary bike that riders want to ride on the track so we’ve made an attractive pricing structure to allow riders to sign up for two groups at these specific events,” said Harris. “All the pricing and information is on our website and people are welcome to call the office if they have questions.”
