The Can-Am will be wrapping up the 2006 season this weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park in conjunction with the Parts Canada Superbike final. It’s been a great year for racing for both the 125 and 250 classes; 12 year old PJ Jacobsen will be adding yet another championship title to his collection by becoming the 2006 Can-Am 125cc champ. Jacobsen is our youngest rider ever to participate thus far in the series, and we hope his performance will inspire others his age to come out and play next year! Matt Cooper should have no problem sealing the deal in the 250cc championship; all he needs to do is collect a few qualifying points and finish the race, and he’ll be able to take the number one plate away from last year’s champ, John Crook. Both championships are already in the clutches of Jacobsen and Cooper, however the racing doesn’t stop here; the battles for second place in both classes will be intense. Mark White and Rick Bulmann are both in contention for that second place position behind Jacobsen among the 125s, and it will be a four man stand-off in the 250 class; John Dempsey, Jim Bergey, Alain Brault and Eddy Brunet all have a shot at second place, which will make for a definite high octane performance on their part for spectators to watch. Come out for the weekend to enjoy some Grand Prix racing, and help celebrate yet another great year in the books for the Can-Am Challenge Series! Racing to begin at 12:30pm on Sunday see you there.
