The 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 was introduced today to European media in Paris, France, but the bike will not be officially introduced to the American market until Monday, September 29. In the meantime, this is what European sources are reporting about the new machine. It has a new engine that has been shortened significantly from front-to-rear, allowing for a longer swingarm and a shorter overall wheelbase. The new powerplant has a bigger bore (74.5mm vs. 73.4mm) and a shorter stroke (57.3mm vs. 59.0mm), larger titanium valves, and more compression. The bike also gets a set of Showa’s new 43mm Big Piston Forks (BPF) and forged monoblock front brake calipers. We will report more details as they become available.
