SONOMA, Calif. (May 11, 2011) — A 3J’s Motorcycle Track Day raised $22,000 for charity on Wednesday at Infineon Raceway. The event kicked off festivities for this weekend’s West Coast Moto Jam, which will feature AMA Pro Road Racing, Supermoto USA, AHRMA Vintage Motocross, Flat Track and TTXGP electric motorcycles. More than 100 riders converged on the raceway for a day of recreational riding around the 12-turn, 2.28-mile road course, which also featured a catered lunch, T-shirt, raffle and an evening reception. All proceeds from the event will go to qualified youth groups in Sonoma County through Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway. “This day couldn’t have been any better,” said Eureka’s Mark Topping, who enjoyed his first 3J’s Track Day. “The track was great and it’s been much improved since I raced here in the ’80s. It’s nice that we get to ride all day for charity.” “In this tough economy, it’s great to get 100 riders out here for this event,” said Jere Starks, 3J’s founder and vice president of facilities at Infineon Raceway. “It’s a great day of riding, and it feels great to give to Speedway Children’s Charities.” 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days have generated more than $275,000 for Speedway Children’s Charities since 2003. Starks and Jenah Smith, operations and facilities coordinator at Infineon Raceway, along with Santa Rosa’s Jim Randolph, run the 3J’s program. For more information, visit 3Jsmotorcycledays.com.
