Indian Motorcycle factory rider Brad “The Bullet” Baker was seriously injured in a crash July 22 during practice for the Flat Track Racing event at the X Games in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to a post on social media by Scott Baker, Brad’s brother, Brad Baker suffered a fractured T6 vertebra and his prognosis is yet to be determined.

“I just wanted to give you an update on my brother,” read the post today on Scott Baker’s Facebook page. “Thank you all for being so loving and supporting. I still can’t give a whole lot of details yet because his prognosis is not final and I want to respect him and his teams privacy. After being rushed to the hospital Yesterday, Brad spent the rest of the day undergoing back surgery to repair a multiple fractured T6 vertebrae. The scary part was fragments of the vertebrae damaged his spinal cord and were putting pressure on it causing paralysis from the middle of his back down. Good news is his cord was not severed and the doctors are happy with how the surgery went repairing his vertebrae and relieving the pressure. Brad is in good spirits and is always so thankful even in the worst of situations. Now we walk this road of recovery with him, praying and hoping for the best outcome for him. I have no doubt he will back doing what he loves, but please continue to give him healing uplifting strength. Love you guys thank you”

After 11 of 18 races, Brad Baker was third in the 2018 American Flat Track AFT Twins Championship with three podium finishes. Baker, age 25, won the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship in 2013.
