6 Horas Nocturnas of Albacete Rendez-vous in Spain on Saturday 10th May Spain is welcoming from the 8th to the 10th May the 6 Horas Nocturnas of Albacete, second event of the 2008 FIM Qtel Endurance World Championship. As its name mentions it, the event takes place partly at night. The start will be given on Saturday 10th May at 6 pm, while the finish will be at midnight. The Albacete racetrack is located 150 km west of Valencia and is fully lightened. The track, rather technical, has a length of 3,540 meters and thirteen corners. Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, who holds a victorious first-second at the 24 Heures of Le Mans, comes as a favorite, but Albacete is known to always have tight competition. At the previous 6 Horas Nocturnas of Albacete, the Team Kawasaki France won with a gap of one lap over the official Suzuki. The fight between the two teams should be a serious one, as Kawasaki also wants to forget about its fatal crash at the very beginning of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Other teams are coming to Albacete with strong ambitions. Regularly on the podium at their local race, YMES Folch Endurance is now a FIM Qtel Endurance World Championship permanent team. The Spanish team wants to win all along the line, with a home victory and maximum points for the Championship. Delayed by rear wheel axle problems when they could possibly reach the podium, YMES Folch Endurance is more motivated than ever. Amongst permanent teams, Yamaha Austria Racing Team, Maco Moto Racing Team and Midi Pyrénées MV Agusta also want to score their first points in the Championship since they all had to abandon at Le Mans. Bolliger Team Switzerland, Endurance Moto 38 and Yamaha Phase One Endurance, who were contesting the third place to YMES Folch Endurance in Le Mans, will all be serious contenders for the podium. It will also be necessary to keep an eye on local Spanish teams engaged on their home race. Bruno Performance and Suzuki Catala, amongst many others, are strong competitors on their circuit. In the Superstock class, Qatar Endurance Racing Team IJT, LTG 57 and Endurance Moto 45 are the favorites and will do their best to strengthen their positions in the FIM World Cup. The first practice is scheduled for Friday 9th May in Albacete and the final starting grid of the 6 Horas Nocturnas will be known on Saturday at noon, after the second qualifying session.
