DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 9, 2016) – Riders and fans flocked to Daytona International Speedway this past weekend for the opening event of Bike Week at Daytona International Speedway – the high-energy Daytona Supercross By Honda. This weekend offers a double-header follow-up with the Daytona Flat Track and the 75th DAYTONA 200 By Victory.

The AMA Pro Flat Track opens the 2016 season Thursday and Friday nights (7 p.m. ET both nights) at the Daytona quarter-mile dirt oval located just outside the Speedway’s Turns 1 and 2. Three-time defending GNC1 series champion Jared Mees is chasing his first career victory at Daytona after finishing as high as second place in 2012 and 2015.

“For this season, I look forward to trying to defend the title, of course,” Mees said. “I try to approach each race with a winning mindset. Although some of the tracks are going to be tough, I will give it my all while trying to get the title.”

The 75th DAYTONA 200 By Victory on Saturday at 1 p.m. will feature more than 50 riders from eight different countries. Among the entries is 66-year-old Arthur Kowitz, from neighboring Ormond Beach, Fla., who is attempting to become one of the oldest competitors to ever compete in the DAYTONA 200 By Victory. Qualifying for the 57-lap race begins at 10:40 a.m. on Friday.
