GERMAN CAMPAIGN FOR BEACH JD Beach challenging for the championship at Sachsenring Newport Beach, CA (July 10th 2008) Young American GP hopeful, JD Beach, continues his campaign for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Championship at Sachsenring this weekend. The perennial second place rider is hoping for a breakout race on Saturday, as he has been sitting in second place all season and he currently trails Luis Salom by only ten points. The last race at Assen saw Cup leader Salom ride off track in the first lap and JD squander the opportunity by crashing out of solid second place just a few laps later. Salom ended the race in seventh place and an inspired ride by Beach netted him an eighth place, losing just one point in the championship standings despite the crash. He returned home after Assen for just a short trip, to recharge the batteries. “Yeah it was a short trip home this time. It was for a week but I was home for only two days of it. It was pretty busy but all of us were together. Frankie and Kerri Gillim, their kids Frankie Lee and Hayden, myself, and my Dad. We all went to a dirt track race and Frankie Lee, Hayden, and myself raced. That was a lot of fun, and I got to see some friends from back in Washington. Then we went to Road America for a USGPRU race. That’s a really good program, run very well, and the race was really fun. That track is super long!” “But I think it was good practice for the race this weekend, and I’m really excited. It’s getting close to the end of the season and we have some fun tracks left. I’m just really excited to race here.” The battle is this Saturday. Followed by some PR work for Red Bull at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca next weekend.
