A Preview Of The Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals, Scheduled For August 15-17 At VIR

DANVILLE, VA. – Once again, the AMA Superbike series bring their brand of two-wheeled excitement to VIRginia International Raceway, August 15-17. The 2008 Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, Dunlop Tires and Makita, “The Original Doubleheader”! Bringing the best superbike riders to VIR with their 180mph speeds, the Big Kahuna has always been one of the most thrilling races on the track’s calendar. Riders such as Mat Mladin, Ben Spies, Jamie Hacking, Aaron Yates, Neil Hodgsen and many more face the challenge of VIR’s 2.25-mile North Course with its twists, turns, hills and dales. The 2007 edition of the Big Kahuna saw Mat Mladin sweep both feature Superbike races, beating out teammate Spies on Saturday and Sunday, giving the Suzuki pair a sweep of the VIR rounds on the top podium steps. “The Big Kahuna is the biggest crowd pleaser on our calendar” said track general manager Josh Lief. “It’s one of the biggest varieties of racing action on the track with attractions in the infield for the entire family.” Those attractions include music, a manufacturers’ midway, merchandise vendors, big screen viewing, displays of vintage motorcycles, prototypes plus cars and trucks. “Nearly everyone will find something they’ll enjoy at the Big Kahuna,” stated promoter Cameron Gray. “We go all out to make sure everyone will enjoy their visit, whether they are a motorcyclist or fan of any motorsport.” Tickets for the Big Kahuna are already on sale at ~http://www.moto1usa.com/~ or by calling 303-377-3278. “Make sure you check the M1 website at www.moto1usa.com often as we are giving some great prizes away this year,” said promoter Cameron Gray of M1. “American Suzuki is giving us a 2008 GSX-R600 which will include a Leo Vince exhaust, Arai helmet, and complete set of riding gear. Danny Walker of American Supercamp has thrown in a 2 day riding course as well. The above items will all go to one winner that will be announced on Sunday August 17th at VIR. “Our second place prize will be a signed Arai helmet including riders from MotoGP, World Superbike, AMA Superbike as well as past champions. Our 3rd place prize will be a Makita drill set,” concluded Gray. If you are coming to the event make sure you don’t miss the Thursday afternoon Superstars Kart Challenge at the World Class VIR Kart Track at 4:00pm followed by the rider autograph signing session downtown Danville at Triangle Cycles. On Friday night we will have annual Friday night fan party at the Speed truck located in the vendor area at the race track.
