James “Rocket” Rispoli pictured here won the AMA Pro Singles Daytona Short Track in March 2009 on a Bettencourt sponsored Suzuki RMZ450. “The news last night caught me off guard,” said James. “I knew Dave was sick and in the hospital, but I always thought he would pull through because dirt track guys are that tough. I was working on my Daytona bike, the same one I won the AMA Pro Singles Daytona short track on in March 2009 in front of a packed stadium when my dad called and told me. It was very emotional for both of us. Over the years Dave has been incredibly supportive to me, my dirt track program and so many other racers too.” In 2010 James will dedicate his AMA Pro Single program to Dave and the Bettencourt name and all he stood for.
