Keanu Reeves swaps Hollywood for Brands Hatch with multi MCE BSB champion Shakey Byrne

Hollywood A-lister Keanu Reeves enjoyed his first experience of Brands Hatch (Monday, June 27), joining four-time MCE British Superbike champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne on an MSV Track Day as the Matrix star lapped the Kent circuit on a Ducati Panigale.

Byrne shared his vast experience of his home circuit throughout the day, before the Be Wiser Ducati rider took Keanu for some flying laps of the full-length Grand Prix circuit in the Brands Hatch M4 Master car.

Reeves said: “It has been an amazing day at Brands Hatch with the legendary Shakey Byrne! Ducati has been really gracious, I have been here with some of the guys from Arch Motorcycle, and they kindly offered us some bikes to ride – we had a 959 Panigale and a 1299 Panigale. I am a beginner rider and so for me the 959 was great to get on at this track and learn my way around.

“Shakey has been really patient, kind and gracious and sharing some knowledge with me so he has been helping me out which has been really cool. This has been a new experience and it really has been special as it is a great place to ride.

“I went for a lap in the car on the full circuit with Shakey and it made me want to go and ride it – it is amazing and looked like it would be fun to ride especially as it has such history.”

Byrne added: “To get Keanu and the guys over here and out around Brands Hatch, my home track, has been really fun. It seems really surreal to be riding behind Keanu Reeves around my local circuit, but it has been great and we all had a lot of fun. I also took him out for some laps in the M4 at lunchtime to show them the full circuit and I think we can definitely say we have all had a good day!”
