AGT REA Racing look forward to home race at Austin after difficult Qatar season opener

AGT REA Racing and rider Gino Rea look forward to starting fresh at the teams home race in Austin, Texas.

Gino qualified 24th, 1.4 seconds from pole position at the Qatar opener and had moved up into 15th during the first lap. But on just the third lap of the race, Rea had to retire from 17th due to an oil leak from the engine, ending the race before Gino had the chance to battle for points. The team now look ahead to restarting the season at their home race in Austin, which will be a new circuit for Gino to learn.

“Qatar was a learning experience for everyone, we’re a new team with a new bike, a lack of proper testing and I still had problems with my recovering foot. What happened in the race was just bad luck, we are moving on from that and look forward to progressing at Austin. I have been studying the circuit as much as I can and it looks incredible! I have heard so many great things about The Circuit of the Americas and I can’t wait to experience it for myself! I’m looking forward to representing American Green Technology and the LIVESTRONG Foundation in their home state.”

The second round of the MotoGP Championship will take place at Austin, Texas on 13th April.
