AHRMA Announces Vintage Bike Week Schedule

AHRMA 2007 Bike Week Events The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) 2007 Bike Week events run from Feb. 28 through March 7. Disciplines include road racing, dirt track, motocross, observed trials and cross country. As always, AHRMA Vintage racing allows both participants and spectators to step back to another era of motorcycle racing. Competition includes three days of road racing beginning March 1 at Roebling Road Raceway, outside of Savannah, Ga. On March 4 racers and their bikes gather just west of Daytona at the Volusia County Fairgrounds for registration and tech inspection. This is a great opportunity to see these historic machines up close as they prepare for the March 5 and 6 races at Daytona International Speedway. Dirt track events kickoff with a round at Oglethorpe Speedway Park, north of Savannah, Ga. on Feb. 28. Then, on March 3 AHRMA dirt track returns to the famed Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach. On March 7, dirt track action wraps up the week with a race on the short track at Volusia Speedway Park. AHRMA off-road events include Vintage and Post-Vintage motocross, observed trials and cross country racing. It’s all taking place at Hardrock Cycle Park in Ocala, Fla. Friday, March 2 features cross country and trials competitions. That’s followed on Saturday by vintage and premier/classic motocross and Sunday hosts the post-vintage bikes. 2007 AHRMA Bike Week racing has something for everyone. (Times are TBA) Take I-95 to Georgia Exit 102, then 2.5 miles east on Route 80. Turn right on Dublin Road (just east of Cat Construction Co.), go 0.3 miles, then southwest on Jessup. Thursday, March 1 Roadracing at Roebling Rd. Racing starts at 11a.m. 1135 Roebling Rd., Bloomingdale, Ga. Info: 888-398-7223, roeblingroad.com. Friday, March 2 Cross Country at Hardrock Cycle Park. Gates open 7 a.m.; sign up 7:30 a.m., sighting lap 8:30 a.m., vintage race 9 a.m., post-vintage race 11 a. m. The park is located at the north end of Ocala, Fla. on C-25A, 3/4 mile south off SR326 (Exit 358 from I-75). Call 352-732-6697 for track info. Trials at Hardrock Cycle Park. Sign-up at 10 a.m., start 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3 Vintage and Premier/Classic motocross at Hardrock Cycle Park. Gates open at 7 a.m.; sign-up 7:30 a.m., practice 9 a.m., racing 10 a.m. (See above for directions.) Dirt Track at Municipal Stadium, Daytona Beach, Fla. Gates open at 8 a.m., sign up 9 a.m., practice 11 a.m. From I-95: Take I-95 to 92 West. Continue on 92 West for 2 miles to LPGA Blvd. Make a right on LPGA Blvd. and continue for 2 miles and the stadium is located on right-hand side. Sunday, March 4 Post-Vintage motocross at Hardrock Cycle Park. Gates open at 7 a.m.; sign-up 7:30 a.m., practice 9 a.m., first race 10 a.m.; (See above for directions.) Road race registration and tech inspection at Volusia County Fairgrounds, Intersection of I-4 and Route 44. Opens at 7 a.m., registration and tech begin at 8 a.m., close for lunch noon-1 p. m., close at 4 p.m. Monday, March 5 Road racing at Daytona International Speedway. Gates open 6:30 a.m.; practice 8 a.m., racing at noon. Tuesday, March 6 Road racing at Daytona International Speedway Gates open 7 a.m.; practice at 8 a.m., racing at noon. Wednesday, March 7 Dirt Track at Volusia Speedway Park (formerly Volusia County Speedway) in Barberville, Fla. Sign up is at 9 a.m., practice at 11a.m. The park is 15 miles west of Daytona Beach on State Route 40.
