AHRMA Road Racing will host its annual awards banquet at Laguna Seca Raceway Friday evening February 7, 2020. Class winners from 26 vintage, 14 modern, and 6 sidecar classes will be on hand to receive their awards, number one plates, custom-embroidered championship jackets, and applause from the crowd. This years’ ceremony will feature the presentation of the unique and stylish Inaugural Vintage Cup trophy, designed and built by RoadRash Trophies. Each year a different class is awarded the honor of the spotlight.
The 2019 Vintage Cup winner, Alex McLean rode Rob McKeever’s 1960’s Drixton-framed Aermacchi single to the 350GP championship, which was the featured class that first year.
For the 2020 season, once again roadracingworld.com and NYC Norton (nycnorton.com) will sponsor the Vintage Cup, which will be AHRMA’s 500 Premier class.
Laguna Seca will also be the site of AHRMA’s season opener for all classes, including 500 Premier. Some of the eligible bikes for this class are the exotic Norton Manx 500 singles, Triumph 500 twins, Honda CR450s, and BSA 500cc Gold Stars. Many of these were the leading edge world championship GP bikes from the 1950s and ’60s.
In addition to the overall Vintage Cup championship trophy, special trophies will be awarded for the Saturday rounds of six highlighted AHRMA races:
Laguna Seca
Willow Springs (big track)
Heartland Park
NJMP
Gingerman
Barber
