AHRMA VARSITY CHALLENGE 2020

For the seventh consecutive season, in 2020 AHRMA will host a full season of electric motorcycle road racing.

The Formula Lightning (formerly eMotoRacing) series will be highlighted by the June 19-21 ‘Varsity Challenge’ held at the New Jersey Motorsports Park.  At NJMP collegiate engineering teams from the USA and Canada will vie for a scholarship award in a two round event.

AHRMA’s Formula Lightning classes have invited production and prototype ebikes for the past six years. The MotoE World Cup spec class just completed its first season, and shows good promise.

The eleven race series is held at tracks all across America.

The Formula LightningSM (formerly eMotoRacing) series is the PREMIER zero emissions motorcycle road racing series in the US. This means, if your race bike emits no exhaust while going around the track, you can use any means of propulsion you like; such as electricity, magnetism, gravity, flywheels, springs, etc. We welcome both stock and custom-built electric motorcycles, and innovations such as harnessing kinetic energy are encouraged.

The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) Ltd. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring and  competing on historic motorcycles and under-represented modern motorcycles. With over 3000 members, AHRMA is the leading vintage racing group in North America and one of the largest in the world. The association’s enthusiastic membership reflects this country’s strong interest in classic bikes.
