Vintage Cycles to Race at Historic Road America Elkhart Lake, Wis., June 9, 2009Classic motorcycles will race at Road America, June 12-14, 2009 during the AHRMA Vintage Cycle Weekend. The event features vintage racing motorcycles from the 1920s to the early 70s, Vintage Superbikes from the 70s and 80s, along with modern Sound of Singles®, Battle of Twins® and Sound of Thunder® machines. The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) is dedicated to preserving the heritage of racing motorcycles and promotes this heritage through events at legendary race circuits. Road America is a track favorite of competitive riders because of its four miles of high-speed straight-aways, multiple turns and undulating terrain. Several passing areas contribute to the competitive spirit and racing action. Spectators are encouraged to attend on their cycles and enjoy free track touring on Saturday and Sunday during laps led by world champion Doug Polen. Other accomplished racers attending the event include former AMA Grand National Championship rider Jay Springsteen and Milwaukee’s own Wes Orloff, a Buell rider. Tickets for Vintage Cycle Weekend can be purchased after 7 a.m. at the Main Gate on Hwy 67. Admission is $15 on Friday, $30 on Saturday and $30 on Sunday. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Parking, paddock access and grandstand seating are free with every ticket and carry-ins are allowed. Fans are encouraged to enjoy Road America’s park-like setting with on-site camping, fees apply. Road America offers diverse racing venues, amazing viewing opportunities, fantastic concessions and high-speed excitement to thousands of spectators each year.
