Garage Company Presents 12th Annual Corsa Moto Classica Vintage Motorcycle Event at Willow Springs Raceway April 27-29, 2007 Twelve years ago, Los Angeles’ Garage Company owner Yoshi Kosaka made a call to the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHHRMA) asking why they didn’t have any vintage motorcycle racing events out West. As a result of that call, Yoshi quickly found himself in the passion-filled, yet financially challenging position of vintage motorcycle racing promoter with his Corsa Moto Classica event at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, California. The Corsa is now 12 years old, and 2007’s event is shaping up to be a great one. This year’s Corsa Moto Classica will feature two full days of American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) road races featuring rare racing machines such as Norton Manx, MV Agusta GP bikes, as well as modern Kawasaki, Ducati, and Suzuki superbikes. In addition, this year’s Corsa will feature an exhibition race of 750cc two stroke Grand Prix machines featuring the mighty Yamaha TZ750’s and Kawasaki H2 750’s. These formidable machines will come out of the woodwork for this special exhibition race at the request of TZ750, H2 and other mega 2 stroke owners who want to resurrect their old big bore Grand Prix Class. This event is a step backward in time to an era when bevel drive Ducatis, overbored Japanese superbikes, and Manx Nortons ruled the racetracks. It’s truly amazing how many vintage race and street bikes appear on the grounds of Willow Springs raceway during this event. And you never know what you’ll run into as you stroll through the paddock. Whether your thing is the Vincent Black Shadow, the Moto Guzzi Lemans, or the Honda CB750, there’s enough vintage motorcycle nirvana for every attendee at the Corsa. One of the great features of being a spectator at AHRMA vintage races is the opportunity to observe vintage motorcycles in action and to meet and talk to many of the racers as you stroll through the paddock. You never know who you’ll run into in the pits- perhaps one of the notable regular AHRMA racers such as Harley Davidson Factory rider and AMA Grand National Champion Jay Springsteen, Grand Prix Champion Gary Nixon, or Isle of Man winner David Roper. A bike show is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and bike show entries are free. The Corsa Moto Classica Swap Meet also features free admission for all attendees and vendors with your paid admission to the track. Bring a pile of motorcycle parts, bikes, or memorabilia to sell! The event schedule is as follows: Friday, April 27, 2007: Gates open 7AM. Event kickoff. Racing Practice for licensed competitors Saturday, April 28, 2007: Gates open 7AM. Morning Racing Practice for licensed competitors Lunch run 11:15 AHRMA Road Racing beginning at noon Free Bike Show Free Swap Meet (all day) Sunday, April 29, 2007: Gates open 7AM. Morning Racing Practice for licensed competitors Lunch run 11:15 AHRMA Road Racing beginning at noon Free Swap Meet (all day) Want to try vintage road racing with AHRMA? AHRMA will also offer a road racing school on Friday, taught by AHRMA’s Gary Bird. Please see the AHRMA website (www.AHRMA.org) for details. Many motorcyclists ride from the Los Angeles metropolitan area to this once per year event, crossing the scenic and curvy Santa Monica Mountains via the Angeles Crest Highway and Angeles Forest Highway in the process. It makes for a great, easy day trip for a lone rider or motorcycling group. Willow Springs Raceway is conveniently located an hour’s drive north of Los Angeles just over the Santa Monica mountain range. Admission to the Corsa is only $10 at the gate. More information on this event can be found at www.garagecompany.com or www.ahrma.org
