Week highlights the role of new riders in motorcycling

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association is celebrating AMA Go Ride! Month this week, April 4-10, with the month’s first weekly theme: Go Ride with the Next Generation.

“The future of motorcycling is all about new riders, not just kids but adults just learning to ride,” said AMA Chief Operations Officer Jeff Massey. “This week, we celebrate what it means to pass our love of riding motorcycles to newer or younger motorcyclists, and we welcome all AMA members to share stories about how they learned to ride and how they’ve helped grow the ranks of motorcyclists.”

The AMA’s partner for Go Ride with the Next Generation Week is AMA Business Member Strider. This week, participants have a chance to win one of four AMA-themed Strider Bikes.

“The first part of our mission statement at Strider is, ‘We love riding bikes, and we love inspiring kids to ride,'” said Strider founder and CEO Ryan McFarland. “Getting kids onto two wheels with a Strider bike is the first step in a journey to becoming a motorcyclist. Amazingly, kids that start on Striders at 2 years old can be riding a 50cc mini without training wheels by the age of 4. More riders means more members, which means more moto goodness!

“We’re excited to be working with AMA during Go Ride with the Next Generation Week,” McFarland said.

AMA members and riders can participate by sharing photos on social media, engaging with the AMA or simply entering a drawing. Details will be shared at both www.facebook.com/americanmotorcyclist and through the AMA Twitter account @ama_riding.

Every April, the AMA highlights cool stuff to do on two wheels as part of Go Ride! Month. It is the annual reminder that motorcycling is the best way to go to work, go out on the town, go see the country or just go have fun. Each week will feature a new opportunity to win a cool prize from an AMA partner.

To learn more about AMA-sanctioned events and the AMA-chartered organizers that make them happen, see the AMA website www.americanmotorcyclist.com. AMA members also can plan a great individual ride using the AMA Great Roads Database or AMA Trails Atlas. The AMA State Laws charts help you make sure you follow the local rules of the road or trail, while street and off-highway rider resource pages provide great tips for new and veteran riders. Current and future racers can learn everything they need to know in the racing section of the AMA website, as well.

In addition to riding with the knowledge that they support riders’ freedoms across the country, AMA members enjoy a number of money-saving benefits, including AMA Roadside Assistance, which comes at no additional cost to any member who signs up for auto-renewal of their AMA membership with a valid credit card and email address.
