American Motorcyclist Association corrects recent public statements about FIM North America and Supermoto competition

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association is correcting erroneous statements made about Supermoto competition in a press release issued Oct. 22, 2014, by the Mike Kidd Sports Agency.

The erroneous statements were made in a press release titled “FIM North American (sic) Supermoto Championship Appoints Mike Kidd as Vice President, General Manager.” The Mike Kidd Sports Agency distributed the press release without consultation with representatives of the AMA or FIM North America.

Despite the unauthorized use of the AMA boilerplate in the press release footer and use of the official FIM North America logo in the header, the press release was not authorized or reviewed by the AMA or FIM North America. FIM North America is not the international sanctioning body for motorcycle sport, as stated in the press release. FIM North America is a continental union of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (the international sanctioning body for motorcycle sport) and is made up of the AMA and the AMA’s Canadian counterpart, the Canadian Motorcycle Association.

Mike Kidd is neither an employee of the AMA nor FIM North America, and the Mike Kidd Sports Agency does not represent the AMA or FIM North America. No promoter or sports agency is authorized to do business as the AMA, FIM North America or the FIM North America Supermoto Championship.

To date, AMA-chartered promoter Supermoto East Coast has conducted six AMA amateur and one CMA amateur Supermoto events, which composed the 2014 FIM North America Supermoto Championship.

No AMA or FIM North America sanctions have been granted for any 2015 events promoted by Supermoto East Coast.
