AMA officials and crewmen deployed 15 new Air Fence/Air Module sections at Road Atlanta Thursday evening, with the help and guidance of Alpina Safety Systems Managing Director Ingo Hopfgartner and Consultant Ben Tidswell. Hopfgartner is based at Alpina headquarters in Austria; Tidswell, based out of Colorado, mainly works with Alpina air modules used at ski racing venues.
Joining the work crew in moving haybales was AMA Pro Racing Director of Competition Merrill Vanderslice, along with Superbike Operations Manager Ron Barrick.
Vanderslice aggravated an existing back condition and was in pain Friday morning at the track.
