4/22/2013 Upper Arlington, Ohio – Columbus, Ohio-based Team Ohio Racing/Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports (TOR-VETM) is partnering with AMA Pro Road Racing Teams to increase disabled combat veteran outreach during the 2013 season. TOR-VETM’s main objective to actively engage and empower disabled combat veterans through their motor sports, and James Gang / Hoban Brothers Racing, Motolist.com Racing and Twisted Speed Racing entries will assist those efforts. All three teams compete in the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson class. James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing and the Motolist.com Racing partnered with TOR-VETM at the Daytona International Speedway in March. At the end of the weekend both teams committed to continue their support of combat veteran outreach for select rounds in the series. Twisted Speed Racing supported combat veteran outreach at New Jersey Motorsports Park during the 2012 AMA round, and will race at select 2013 races with a disabled combat veteran crew. The Wounded Warrior Project Alumni crews will assist as needed, creating a unique outreach program that positively impacts local-area combat veterans by engaging their mind and body. “We had an outstanding experience working with our Wounded Warriors crew at Daytona,” said James Gang/Hoban Brothers team co-owner and rider Paul James. “We really bonded together as a team. We worked hard, learned from each other and had a great time. I can’t wait for the next opportunity we have to share our racing program with such high-quality individuals.” The #911 Twisted Speed Racing XR1200 entry worked with disabled combat veterans during last year’s AMA round at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Team owner and rider Aaron Borello came away from last years’ experience impressed with how the veterans adapted and worked within the team. Borello committed his team to continue the outreach in 2013. “It was an amazing experience having the guys from the Wounded Warrior Project Alumni as part of my team at New Jersey last year,” commented Borello. “The guys were eager to learn and we could not have done it without them! I look forward to having veterans as part of our crew again this year!” “The Wounded Warriors were a key component of our efforts recently at Daytona,” states Motolist.com team owner Richard Barnett. “The guys were willing to jump in and learn all aspects of being part of a Pro crew on the AMA grid for the #3 Motolist.com Harley-Davidson, and came through brilliantly. I look forward to working with them again. They bring a very positive element to everyone’s experience during the race weekend.” “All these teams have experienced firsthand how this positively impacts all the combat veterans involved. We were lucky to join up with Barenett and James at Daytona. Borello worked with our program in 2012, and to have all three on board for 2013 is huge,” added TOR-VETM Founder Peter Cline. “To increase the opportunity for disabled combat veterans expands the outreach we had last year. I appreciate all the teams’ efforts in making this experience possible.” About Team Ohio Racing’s/Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports: Team Ohio Racing is the first motorsports team to fully integrate disabled veterans into an active race team environment.
