Phoenix (April 11) – AMA Pro Daytona SportBike racer Ted Rich will race a Zero Electric Motorcycle, sponsored by Hollywood Electrics in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 30th. He will be competing in the all-new Electric Motorcycle Class in the PPIHC’s Exhibition Powersport Division. Pikes Peak is the second oldest race in the United States behind the Indy 500. With 156 turns, no guardrails, sheer drop-offs and an elevation that increases more than 5,000 feet in 12.4 miles, to a finish of over 14,000 feet at the summit. Ted is no stranger to electric motorcycles. He has been a Development Rider for Lightning Electric Motorcycles and competed in the FIM e-Power race at Laguna Seca in 2012 on a Zero production electric bike. This will be Ted’s fourth year in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike class and his first year in the premier Superbike class. He will be competing on a Yamaha YZF-R6 and Kawasaki ZX-10R sponsored by SBKtraining.com.
