The start of the 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing season is currently on hold at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) due to rain. The National Guard Superbike class was scheduled to start practice at 10:15 a.m., but on-track activities are on hold due to the track being wet. It started raining Wednesday night and continued into Thursday morning, but rain stopped falling at the track at approximately 10:00 a.m. today. According to Weather.com, Thursday afternoon and the remainder of the weekend should be rain-free. At the rider’s meeting, AMA Pro Racing Race Director David McGrath told participants that Thursday’s schedule would be adjusted and announced when conditions improved. DIS staff began drying the track with jet turbine blowers shortly before 11:00 a.m.
