We have determined to seek input from our riders and entrants in an area of importance. We will need your email response on or before December 20, 2009. If you are a rider/entrant, you submit your response once, if you are an entrant, you respond once, please. Your response can only come back as a reply to this email. If there are any attempts to “stuff the response box” by a single entity, all those emails will be disregarded. The rule question is simple: If the race is red flagged with more than two laps having been completed, what shall be the preferable course of action? 1) A single file rolling restart from behind a safety vehicle based on track position at the time of the red flag.* “Or” 2) A clutch start from a grid determined by the riders position across the start/finish line on the lap prior to the red flagged lap.** *Points in favor of rolling restarts –Avoids long delays –Keeps “program moving” –Avoids delays and conflicts over assigning grid positions; and –Lessens chances of clutch problems due to multiple starts **Points in favor of clutch starts –Traditional format with rider familiarity; and –Perceived to be popular with fans; and –Potential for lower turn one speeds following the restart Your email response (which must be received by 12/20/09) to this email must be limited to either: (1)” Rolling restart”; or (2) “Clutch start from a grid” Thank You, Al Ludington Technical Director AMA Pro Racing
