DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 24, 2013) – AMA Pro Racing officials announced today that the company has made an important investment in rider safety and will be taking delivery of a brand new inventory of Airfence for enhancing the protection of riders at GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing events. For many years, the Roadracing World Action Fund (RWAF), a non-profit organization which focuses on promoting rider safety with an emphasis on the use of soft barriers, has graciously provided AMA Pro Racing with a supply of Airfence to help protect their professional athletes. AMA Pro Racing would like to thank John Ulrich and the Roadracing World Action Fund for many years of proactive and continued involvement. “We are pleased to be in a position to acquire our own Airfence to enhance our ability to meet the needs of the Series,” said Michael Gentry, Chief Operating Officer of AMA Pro Racing. “We would like to express our gratitude to John Ulrich and the rest of the Roadracing World Action Fund Board of Directors for all that they have done and will continue to do in the interest of promoting rider safety.” “The goal of the Roadracing World Action Fund has been to encourage racing sanctioning bodies to proactively improve rider safety by deploying soft barriers,” said RWAF Founder and President John Ulrich. “AMA Pro Racing has set the bar in deploying soft barriers provided by the Roadracing World Action Fund and is now taking the extra step of buying its own fleet of soft barriers for use at AMA Pro Road Races. That means the Roadracing World Action Fund can now redeploy the sections that have been on loan to AMA Pro, at additional road racing events run by CCS, WERA and other sanctioning bodies. The net result will be enhanced rider safety at more events nationwide.” The Roadracing World Action Fund, working with IMDA and AMA Pro Racing, also supplies soft barriers for use at AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles events.
