AMA Pro Road Racing Competitor Bulletin #2012-05 To: All AMA Pro Road Racing Competitors Date: January 30, 2012 Effective Date: January 1, 2013 Subject: 2013 American SuperBike Electronics The following price cap will go into effect January 1st, 2013 and continue through the 2014 competition season. AMA Pro reserves the right to continue to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the new rules and, if deemed warranted, any material changes would be implemented upon 12 months notice no sooner than January 1st, 2015. Total Price Cap of all Add-on Electronics: $18,000 This price cap will include any and all electronics that did not come on the homologated machine. This would include, but is not limited to, the following items: “¢ ECU Stand-alone, kit or piggyback. All hardware must be approved and appear on the Eligible Equipment List. This will include quick shift, auto tune and traction control boxes as well as all other add-ons. This should include the cost of any and all necessary communication cables. “¢ Data Acquisition Data loggers, data logging dashes, non-logging aftermarket dashes, software and hardware that support data recording and analysis. The hardware and software must be approved and appear on the Eligible Equipment List and must include any necessary communication cables. Lap timers should be included here. Lap timers are not regulated by the Eligible Equipment List, but the costs must be included. Data systems in riding suits also are not regulated but must be declared in the price cap. “¢ Sensors and Hardware Any and all sensors that did not come stock on the bike must be declared. Stock sensors and the stock number of sensors, i.e. wheel speed, throttle position, H2O temp, etc., need not be declared and do not get included in the capped price of the system. Any additional stock sensors above and beyond the stock quantities need to be declared. Any and all additional aftermarket sensors, i.e. suspension travel, brake pressure, tire temperature, oil pressure, etc., must be declared and their cost included in the package total. Sensors are not regulated by the Eligible Equipment List; however vendor pricing and vendor availability may be confirmed at any time by AMA Pro Racing. “¢ Wire Harness Wire harnesses of any type, i.e. main, data, dash, etc. will not be regulated and will not count against the total cost of the system. “¢ Leased Electronics Systems- The market value of the above categories will determine the declared value of the system. The lease price is not the determining factor. The American SuperBike Electronic Component Declaration/Cost Document will be posted on the AMA Pro Racing website well in advance of the 2013 competition season. It must be filled out and submitted no later than seven days prior to a competitor’s first event for the season. It only needs to be submitted once unless additions, subtractions or changes are made. It will be attached to each bike’s technical log book for spot checking and enforcement at any time during a race weekend at the discretion of AMA Pro Racing. All Inclusive ASB Price cap: $18k — Description — Included in price cap? — Must be approved and on the Eligible Equipment List? ECU — Stand-alone ECU (including kit), piggyback(s) and all add on units. Examples: quick shift, t/c, auto tune, etc. must be declared. Indicate ecu internal logging, logging dash or stand-alone systems. Lap timers are included here as well as non-logging dash boards. Include any necessary download cables. — Yes — Yes Sensors and Hardware — O.E.M. sensors do not count towards the total price. Any additional O.E.M. sensors will count towards the price cap. All other sensors supporting engine management or data acquisition must be declared. — Yes — No Wire Harnesses — Engine management or data harness assemblies will not be regulated due to a huge variance in connectors and construction techniques.
