Six Weeks Left Until AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series Riders Roar into Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Second Rendezvous DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 7, 2012) – In a short six weeks, the thundering twins of the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series will roar into Indianapolis Motor Speedway to take part in the Red Bull Indianapolis GP for the second consecutive year. The event is a staple on the world motorsports calendar and this year’s contest, scheduled for August 17 – 19, 2012, will once again feature the lone doubleheader weekend on the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series schedule. Last year’s event saw 33 entries take to the historic 2.621-mile, 16-turn road course aboard the proven Harley-Davidson XR1200 platform in a set of hotly-contested battles. Some of AMA Pro Racing’s finest talent took part in the thrilling races, which closed out the day’s competition on both Saturday and Sunday and provided an iconic American complement to the exotic prototype machinery. Early indications and comments by AMA Pro riders indicate that the 2012 edition will likely feature even more entries, and even tighter battles. Notable Quotes: Tyler O’Hara (No. 29 Bartel’s Harley-Davidson XR1200), winner of Race 1 in last year’s event: “I’m really excited to head back to Indianapolis Motor Speedway again to be a part of the MotoGP weekend. That whole atmosphere is just awesome. Getting my first win there last year was very special to me. It felt really good, like all the hard work paid off to get that first win at the Brickyard. I got to kiss the bricks, which is something you only see on TV; it was like I was living a dream. I’m having a lot of fun this year on the bike, so I’m excited to get to ride the first doubleheader weekend in the XR Showdown. I can’t wait to be there and go racing.” Kyle Wyman (No. 33 KLR Group Harley-Davidson XR1200): “It was definitely way different than any other race we had all year, not just because of the MotoGP crowd and being alongside all three of the MotoGP classes, but it’s also at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is arguably just as prestigious as Daytona International Speedway. It’s another one of those places where you come through the tunnel and you see it and you get chills, even more so than Daytona. It’s not only a big race in that aspect and as far as last year was, but this year it’s going to be even bigger because of the XR Showdown, the first two races of the five race showdown. The racing is going to get pretty intense starting at Indy for a lot of different reasons.” Gerry Signorelli (No. 88 Kuryakyn/ Racing for a Wish Harley-Davidson XR1200): “We are incredibly fortunate to be put on the world stage at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Obviously, the place is magic as far as motorsports history goes, but to be there in conjunction with MotoGP is really exciting. Last year, the first few laps on the scooter were the coolest, because we got to see where it all happens. It didn’t pan out as well as I had planned last year, with two non-results, but I cannot emphasize how excited I was to be there. There’s just so much going on at the track and so much action to see.” Shane Narbonne (No. 164 MOB Racing Harley-Davidson XR1200): “It’s cool to race on the same track and on the same day as MotoGP, that’s huge. Especially how young I am, it’s cool to be on the same track at the same time. It’s definitely a cool track to go to; it’s one of the oldest, so it’s definitely cool you know. I’m definitely pumped about Indy, last year I qualified 13th and finished 10th in Race 2 and now we’re on a new team with MOB Racing, so it might work out better. The team has definitely stepped up huge; I have to thank Dennis and Ryan for putting the program together. Every race we keep going forward, the last couple of races we’re finally in the top 15 now so it’s definitely going to get better from here.” For tickets and event information, please visit ~http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/redbullindianapolisgp/~ AMA Pro Racing is the premier professional motorcycle racing organization in North America, operating a full schedule of events and championships for a variety of motorcycle disciplines.
