AMA Pro Racing Will Require Engine Case Covers, But No Longer Require Intake Screens

TO: All Licensed Riders and Season Credential Holders FROM: Rob King, Technical Manager DATE: May 12, 2005 SUBJECT: Engine case covers for all classes at AMA Pro Racing Superbike Championship events Effective at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, July 8-10, (round seven) all classes will be required to conform to the following: 1. Original equipment engine side covers that retain oil must be replaced with covers designed specifically to improve resistance to breaking and grind through in the event of a crash. The replacement covers must be made of cast or machined aluminum. 2. If covers for a particular brand/model are not currently produced or are backordered, riders presenting such models at tech inspection will be placed on the technical trouble log. Such riders will then have until the next event to comply with the regulation. DATE: May 12, 2005 SUBJECT: Air intake screens for all classes at AMA Pro Racing Superbike Championship events Effective immediately in all classes, fairing or air intake tube mounted air intake screens are no longer required.
