Elkhart Lake, WI (May 30) – Zalusky Advanced Riding School and Track Days (ZARS) recently held its doubleheader for the Shootout Championship and Rider Challenge Championships Series and Track Days, May 27-28, at Elkhart Lake’s Road America. Riders from across America and several other countries as well as a few AMA riders converged on the 4-mile road course in Wisconsin over Memorial Day and May 28.
The Shootout Series provided a lot of excitement as several AMA riders lined up on the grid for cash prizes and practice prior to the AMA Superbike Doubleheader. The series presented by BlownConcepts.com awarded $1900 in cash prizes to all top 3 finishers in each of the classes.
On May 27, Pat Stewart dominated the competition in the GP4 Expert class aboard the Cities Edge Kawasaki ZX-10R. In the GP3 Expert class, Ricardo Valdez held a strong lead to take the checkered flag. In the GP Expert 1/2, Alex Zelenski defeated Jon Champ by a small margin for the win.
On May 28, Brazilian Nico Ferreira battled hard and took the checkered flag from Bell Helmet rider Shane Keaveny in the 4-lap sprint for GP4 Expert. In the GP3 Expert, TPL Racing Jordan Imrie pulled ahead of JD Mosley for the win.
In the Novice ranks, Brad Kreller, Mike Knoll, James Michaelson, Matt Nardo and Joseph Dunn all had notable wins throughout the series at Road America.
ZARS continues to broaden our opportunities with the Rider Challenge for experienced Track Day riders. Peter Mittendorf took his first win of the season in the GP3 with Scott Masterton in 2nd place. In the GP4, Jim Rauser took his first win aboard his Yamaha YZF R1. In GP 1/2, Dave Pederson nudged out Justin Brouwer for the win.
