AGGRESSIVE NASH BULLIES HIS WAY TO SECOND PLACE IN SONOMA FOR LTD RACING

Sonoma CA (May 16, 2010) — Huntley Nash earned second place in Sundays AMA Pro SuperSport race at Infineon Raceway, equaling his best-ever SuperSport result in a hard charge that saw him frequent the ragged edge in pursuit of the podium. Teammate Jake Gagne steadily moved through the field but saw his chances for the podium dashed when he bumped with another rider and crashed.

Nash did not showcase smooth and polished riding technique on Sunday but instead rode an old fashioned, aggressive, tough race needed to steal positions from his rivals on the starts and fight for narrow patches of the Infineon Raceway asphalt for 18 laps.

Huntley got the holeshot in the race and led the first two laps. On the restart after a red flag, Nash duked it out with eventual race winner Cameron Beaubier for the lead before consolidating second place.

This feels really good because I think I have proved I can be up here on the podium week in and week out, said Nash. Ive been working really hard and it was important to have a nice result after the other good races weve had recently. The class is really strong and any time you can get a good result racing the group we have out here, you have earned something special.

The red flag was good for us because it allowed me to regroup a little, added Nash. I was being a little too aggressive in the last turn and losing some time there during the first part of the race so I got that sorted during the red flag. On the restart, I tried to get to the front and set the pace but the tires were about done. At a certain point, I decided to hold onto second place. It was great to get second on the weekend we were raising awareness for breast cancer.

Jake Gagne had a tough weekend at Infineon Raceway. The smooth Californian crashed out of Sundays race when he tangled with another rider. Even though he set quick times and at one point ran in second place in Sundays event before the red flag, Jake was disappointed not to have reprised his Daytona podium AMA weekend.

It was disappointing how some things worked out this weekend but I learned a lot and got some more seat time on a 600, said Gagne. I didnt get very good starts today and then I had to pass some people. I hit my brake on another rider’s wheel in a corner and down I went. Im looking forward to my next race for the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Mugello and also to getting back on a 600 again very soon.
