Sunday’s AMA Pro SuperSport race at Road America ended with a thrilling final lap. Huntley Nash, J.D. Beach, Tomas Puerta, James Rispoli, Cameron Beaubier and Miles Thornton all had a chance to take the victory, but mistakes on the last lap hurt Beach, Rispoli and Beaubier. Nash made the fewest mistakes and brought his LTD Racing Yamaha home for his first-ever AMA Supersport race win over Rockwall Performance Yamaha’s Beach (the SuperSport East Championship point leader) and Nash’s teammate Puerta. Eric Stump, 0 More, from a press release issued by LTD Racing: HUNTLEY NASH VICTORIOUS AT ROAD AMERICA, TOMY PUERTA THIRD FOR LTD RACING Elkhart Lake, WI (June 6, 2010) Huntley Nash earned his first AMA SuperSport win on Sunday at Road America, emerging victorious following a furious six-rider battle for ten laps at the famous 4.05-mile circuit. Nash’s LTD Racing teammate Tomy Puerta earned a close third place and Kyle Keesee was 12th. Nash rode a relentlessly aggressive race in his bid for his first SuperSport win. Nash won by 0.200 seconds over J.D. Beach and 0.235 over Puerta. Huntley led early on but a run into the grass nearly meant disaster. Nash dropped to third place but quickly regrouped and returned to the front. “I’m so excited, I don’t know what to say, really. I’ve been wanting to win so badly and training really hard and now we’ve gotten our first win. My team has worked really hard and I want to thank them for giving me the bike to do it today,” said Nash, from Marietta, Georgia. “Tomas and I planned on trying to see if we could get away at the beginning and we were doing pretty well, but then I ran wide and so the rest of the race was a battle between Tomas, J.D., and me. We were putting on a good show for the fans and I’m happy to come home with the win.” “I was trying to win but I was in third waiting for the last two laps to make the maximum effort. That was my strategy,” said Puerta, from Medellin, Colombia. “Then (James) Rispoli and Cameron (Beaubier) passed me and I had to earn some extra positions to get back up to the front. I’m happy to be here. This was a good weekend for me and the team. One second and one third for me and hopefully I will get a win soon.” “It went okay and it was a bit chaotic when they cancelled the 1200 race and moved us up. I got a good start and tried my best in the race. It was a good weekend and we picked up speed in every session but in today’s race, I don’t know if it was the track or the conditions or what but I didn’t have as much confidence in it,” said Keesee, from Palm Bay, Florida. “My goal is to get up there with Huntley and Tomas.”
