Celtic Racing’s Alexander Suffers Broken Leg In Training Accident Celtic Racing is unhappy to report that Corey Alexander will not be able to ride the #5 National Guard Fairhills Group Suzuki GSX-R600 at the twelfth and final round of the 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing SuperSport season this weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. Corey suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg as a result of a training accident. Alexander was riding motocross close to home on Sunday, September 30th, when the motorcycle landed on his leg after a crash. Alexander was taken immediately to the hospital, and underwent surgery on Monday to insert a rod in the injured leg. The doctors suggest recovery time for the injuries will be quick, with necessary physical therapy to prevent atrophy, but cannot offer precise estimates at this time. In a message received after his surgery, Corey stated that “unfortunately, motorcycling is a dangerous sport. I’m aware of that each and every time I ride. Unfortunately, injury seems to be surreal until it actually happens. I’m sad to say I broke my tibia and fibula within my right leg. I was motocrossing at a local track and after a crash, the bike followed me, ultimately landing on my lower leg, snapping the two bones. I’ve spoken with all the doctors and no one knows when a full recovery will be, I just have to take every day as it comes. Thanks first to my Celtic Racing team and crew for all the hard work and dedication this season, as well as to my family and friends for all their support and encouragement, especially my uncle Richie. Thanks also to my great sponsors: National Guard, Fairhills Group, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, and Arai Helmets for an awesome year. I’m really bummed to end the season like this, but I plan to get a head start on training for next season!” To keep up with Corey’s recovery and, please follow him on Twitter via @Corey5Alexander, like his Facebook page at ~http://www.facebook.com/corey5alexander~, visit his website at ~http://www.corey23.com~, or like the Celtic Racing Facebook page ~http://www.facebook.com/CelticRacing~.
