Joey Pascarella, the 18-year-old from Vacaville, California, who won the 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport West Championship, has landed a ride on Team Elle2 Ciatti Racing’s Pirelli-shod Yamaha YZF-R6 in the CIV/Italian 600cc Superstock National Championship class during this coming weekend’s event at Misano. “It kind of came out of nowhere,” Pascarella told Roadracingworld.com during a layover at the Philadelphia International Airport while on his way to Italy. “Everything is coming up so fast and the next thing you know here I am flying to Italy.” Making the connection between the team and Pascarella was the work of Manager Paolo Giuntini, who also worked on the deal that placed 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport National Champion Austin DeHaven with Team Trasimeno Yamaha for the 2011 600cc Superstock European Championship. “We first got in contact [with the team] at Daytona,” said Pascarella. “We started e-mailing back and forth and finally came up with an agreement to where I would do this first round for them. It’s performance based. After this weekend, depending on how I do, we will negotiate another contract.” No matter what happens with the team in Italy, Pascarella said he intends to fulfill his racing commitments in America with Run 1 Racing in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and with Mach One Motorsports in club races on the West Coast, as best he can. “I’m just going to go and do what I do and ride my motorcycle and not think about anything else,” said Pascarella, who won a WERA West C Superstock race Sunday at Las Vegas Classic Course. “I’m going to try not to put any pressure on myself, because then I will go and worry. The more you worry about that kind of stuff the more you think about it and then you’re not thinking about the right stuff when you’re on the bike. “So I’m just going to go, be really relaxed and let things come to me, learn the track and just enjoy it, too. I mean, hopefully I will get another chance to come over here, but you can’t always assume. I’m excited. I can’t wait to get out there. Everyone says the track is pretty cool. I’m just going to learn the track as fast as I can and show those guys what America’s got, I guess.”
