Russell Proctor, 14 More, from a press release issued by Geiger Media on behalf of the KLR Group: Wyman a runner-up in Mid-Ohio on KLR Group Harley-Davidson LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 15) – KLR Group Harley-Davidson rider Kyle Wyman had his AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series winning streak snapped Sunday at the Buckeye SuperBike Weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, but still managed to walk away with a runner-up finish. The XR1200 Series is as much chess match as it is motorcycle race. With the bikes too close in performance, if the riders aren’t thinking two or three moves ahead, it becomes nearly impossible to move forward. “I was thinking so much about making up time on other parts of the course, that I wasn’t able to think about the things I wanted to do,” Wyman said. “It’s hard to multi-task that way.” Wyman, who qualified second, jumped out to an early lead but a few mistakes put him in more of a survival mindset than a strategic one. “I got a really good start, then put my head down to see what I could do,” Wyman said. “I was having some problems on some parts of the track. I had to spend effort to catch back up in other parts. Doing that took a lot of brainspace away from me to plan my moves and plan my attack.” He fell from first to third and spent much of the race chasing Tyler O’Hara and Michael Barnes. He got around Barnes late in the race, but didn’t have enough laps left to catch O’Hara. “I had a cooldown lap full of regrets,” Wyman said. “I wish I would have made my moves earlier. I felt like I had the bike that could win today.” The XR1200 Series has an extended break before heading to Indianapolis on Aug. 17-19. Despite finishing the race behind the points leader O’Hara, Wyman actually gained ground and pulled even in the standings. The Top 10 riders in the XR1200 series have their points reset to 1,000 to set up a five-race dash for the championship. “We’re all back even now and going to start out fresh,” Wyman said. “I’m really looking forward to Indy and representing the KLR Group and Spyke’s Harley-Davidson. “Resetting the points is going to change the whole complexion of the series, and I can’t wait to get out there.” More, from a press release issued by Kuryakyn Racing for a Wish Team: SIGNORELLI AND TEAM PREPARE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS CHASE Kuryakyn Racing for a Wish Team Opts Out of AMA Pro XR1200 Mid Ohio Race with Eyes Set on Final Five Rounds to Decide the Championship AMA Pro Road Racing held the seventh round of the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series this past weekend at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. The normally full-time Racing for a Wish Team chose to not participate in the race in order to better prepare for the coming points chase. The XR1200 Series Championship will be decided with the last five rounds after the points for the top-ten are evened up at 1000 starting at the next round at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with MotoGP. Signorelli is safely in 7th place even with missing the round after a solid first half to his second pro season. With Signorelli handling the many facets of the team operations in addition to being the rider, the short summer break will open up the normally limited time to get the team, himself, and the Kuryakyn XR1200’s better setup for an aggressive push in the 2012 championship. Gerry Signorelli – “I’m bummed to be off the bike this weekend when my fellow racers get to play at a really fun race track. I’m confident in our plan though. Our hard work this year has put us in the top-ten no matter what happens from here on out. Throughout the year we have been aware of this points chase and our goals and actions have been centered around the last five rounds. It was time to strategize and look out how best to set ourselves up for success. Our sponsors are incredibly supportive and it was clear to us that missing Ohio should lead to great success in the overall standings which in turn will provide even greater net exposure! Without this short break, I would have been trucking from round to round with a broken motor and bikes that may not have been up to the level needed to win in this competitive class. Kuryakyn is a fantastic company and having them behind us on this decision helps make it a little easier to deal with the feeling of missing a race. We are going to be strong for the last five rounds!” The team invites all fans to make it to the next round for the Indianapolis Grand Prix XR1200 Double Header on August 18th and 19th.
