Racing schedule announced for 2019 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring Honda

Revolution classes added to hare scrambles, motocross competition

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Fans of motorcycle competition will have all the racing and trials they could ask for at 2019 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring Honda, July 5-7 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

Vintage and post-vintage competition will be held in hare scrambles, motocross, trials, flat track and road racing. Several forms of exhibition racing also are planned.

“The racing program at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days features competition in six racing disciplines that welcome racers of all skill levels,” AMA Director of Racing Kevin Crowther said. “The programs provide a place where vintage motorcycle enthusiasts can take part in a wide range of racing in one weekend, while also allowing new racers to try their hand at competing on two wheels for the first time. For vintage motorcycle owners who have been curious about the capabilities of their older machine, this is the event where you can find out in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.”

Class winners in the trials, hare scramble, motocross and road racing disciplines will be recognized, and AMA National Champions will receive AMA National No. 1 plates. The flat track race, which takes place at the Ashland County Fairgrounds, is the seventh round of the AMA Vintage Flat Track Series.

In addition, two outstanding riders will earn the AMA Off-Road Vintage Grand Championship and the AMA Senior Off-Road Vintage Grand Championship for excelling in expert-level eligible classes.

For 2019, the Non-Current classes in hare scrambles and motocross have been renamed Revolution 1, and a set of new Revolution 2 classes has been created. The Revolution 2 classes are open to production two-stroke motorcycles from model years 2008 and older.

Returning for a second year are the youth classes in hare scrambles, motocross and trials competition. Those classes are open to individuals age 9-17 in hare scrambles, 4-17 in motocross and 4-12 in trials.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days again features pit bike racing and a holeshot challenge competition. Pit bike racing is scheduled for July 5-6, while the holeshot challenge rounds out the day’s racing action on July 6.

Begun in 1990, the event has been held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course since 1995. The track is a superb location, accommodating road racing, trials, hare scrambles and motocross, in addition to a full slate of noncompetition events.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com or at the gate during the event. A weekend pass is $60, a single-day admission for Friday or Saturday is $40 and a single-day admission for Sunday is $35. Kids 12 and younger get in free.
